Last July, our Portuguese subsidiary organized a team building event focused on corporate social responsibility activities. The entire Portuguese team, along with some of their Spanish colleagues, took part in a CSR activity which involved cleaning the forests to prevent summer fires.
Last year, over 4.5% of Portuguese forests were destroyed by fires. This year, RCI Banque Portugal decided to play its part in preventing forest fires by launching a Clean-the-forest initiative in Tapada de Mafra, a major nature reserve near Lisbon.
During this event, named Espirito Ibérico 2018 (Iberian Spirit), 50 employees (38 Portuguese and 12 Spanish) helped Tapada de Mafra forest rangers clean the forest. This involved collecting waste, removing trees and carrying out maintenance work on buildings.
